The Micruitian Corner: Technology
Adrian Alintana, IT Operations Manager
The backbone of what we do here at Micruity relies on a strong foundation of technology and security, and Adrian Alintana, the leader of our IT Ops team, ensures that Micruity maintains and stays ahead of all matters security-related. We thought it would be important to hear from him, so here is a virtual Q&A session we had with Adrian that we wanted to share.
What is your role at Micruity?
As an IT Operations manager for a startup, I wear multiple hats. I would generalize my role as facilitating service delivery while striving to meet the highest possible operational and security standards. I accomplish this by implementing technical and procedural controls, and establishing processes that align with the IT Service Management framework. I also work with key team members on risk management and compliance initiatives.
How did you get started?
I worked for Citibank after university. Interestingly enough, I didn’t know a thing about computers when I started, but was fortunate to have the opportunity to work for a great company with mentors, and learned not only about technology but also business processes.
What keeps an IT director up at night?
There are two things that keep me up at night, the first is ever improving our security posture. With that goal achieved, it brings me to the second biggest concern, operational efficiency. All this with the goal of delivering the best possible experience for our stakeholders – our recordkeepers, plan sponsors, insurers, asset managers, and most importantly the plan participants.
How do you see the IT side evolving in the years to come?
Al will certainly play an integral role. It feels like (I would imagine) the time when oil was discovered, and discovering refining techniques and developing engines for various uses. I think that the next few years will have an increase in focus on building trust and governance around the integration of Al into existing IT and business processes – where businesses will reap the value of efficiency, at the risk of customer Al fatigue.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
I really enjoy playing a lot of badminton and pool. When the weather’s nice during the summer, I like to go camping and fishing, and enjoy water sports with my family.
